I measured, cut, constructed repaired and installed wood, composite and wood substitute materials. I performed my work to exact fit and structural soundness. Performed daily rounds of all areas assigned and talked to the professional staff concerning problems. I would then take the necessary actions to correct problems that were identified by staff. I recognized potential safety problems while making rounds and corrected them or referred the concern to the Safety Manager for further action. I would troubleshoot, diagnose and make repairs in the carpentry, plumbing,electrical, painting , and air conditioning. My carpentry duties included repairing and maintaining wooden structures such as furniture, railings, shelves, doors, etc. I installed ceiling tiles, hand rails, corner guards, cove base, and other parts of the building using hand and power tools. My plumbing duties included repairing and installation of existing utilities and disposal systems. I inspected, repaired and replaced fittings and plumbing fixtures to maintain water and drainage systems. I repaired flush valves, faucets, showers, and or other parts in leaky valves and water closets, etc. I performed preventative maintenance inspections in various supply and disposal systems and made necessary repairs when needed. My electrical duties included inspecting and testing electrical lighting, power circuits and ballasts transformers and other simple elements of electrical systems fixtures, and appliances. I would renew circuits either by isolation and cutting out defective wiring and replacing it with new wiring, or by splicing ends of broken wires. I replaced and installed light fixtures, ballasts, fluorescent tubes, electrical outlets, light switches, etc. My painting duties included having knowledge of standard surface preparation and coating methods and techniques. I applied paint so that the surfaces are free from skips, runs, and drips. I sanded, wire brushed, scraped, spackled, and puttied surfaces. I used brush, roll, and spray techniques to apply paints to surfaces. My air conditioning duties included installation, repair, modification and preventive maintenance of most heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment. I used specialized tools such as refrigeration gauges, electrical meters, air measuring devices, torches, vacuum pumps, and refrigerant recovery devices. I repaired thermostats, adjusted temperature settings, cleaned and replaced filters, and made minor repairs to ice machines.
I used blueprints and completed all work on 8 inch pipe line. I used torches and welded tacks to connect pipes for welders to finish welding out pipeline. I used various cutting tools and cutting machines to cut industrial pipe. I drove JLG's and fork lifts to assist in installing pipe. I used grinders and various hand tools to perform pipe fitting duties.
I completed work on (AFFF) Anti Fire Fighting Foam systems on USS Dwight D. Eisenhower. I completed all 10 inch pipe work in engine room of vessel. which included cutting, fitting, and removing and reinstalling all existing pipe. I completed all pipe fitting duties assigned in the habitability section of vessel. this included braszing welding, and running pipe for showers, drains, and sinks etc.
I installed 1000 feet of 4 inch pipe for fire main sprinkler system. I ripped out and reinstalled 1000 feet of 6 inch pipe for fuel in the inner bottom of vessel. I was certified to install P1 pipe and to silver braze.
