Onboard Purser, 01/2006 to 05/2008 Carnival Cruise Lines – Miami, FL Did mostly Caribbean Itineraries of 3,5 & 7 day cruises. Onboard I was responsible for all the needed port papers for vessel entry, vessel Departure and all material transfers to and from the vessel in each port. Was also the liaison for Carnival and the port agent of the visiting island. Onboard I also filled the position of Front Desk Manager where working under pressure and maintaining high levels of customer service became my forte. Enjoyed working for Carnival, but wanted a regular career with a place called home.
Catalog Manager, 06/2008 to 08/2010 Tonger Industries – Fort Lauderdale, FL Coming from the cruise ships, I was offered a job at Tonger where i had to label all the showroom samples and keeping it updated. Shortly after I started the owner realized my level of computer skills and within 6 months moved from helping out in the online catalog department to be the catalog manager, and was the only person to maintain and update the catalog with reference to the online images, data specs of all the sku\'s, installation instructions and pricing structures. I was also given the responsibility of sourcing new companies, establishing relationships with them to ensure mutual beneficial relations to last for a long time. I added SKU\'s that was part of the current trends and also eliminated the ones that have been at the end of their lifespan, learning every detail about the product life cycle of tiles, wood flooring, leather, vinyl, wallpapers, etc. Unfortunately with the recession that hit all the small businesses during the middle of 2010, Tonger Industries had no alternative but to also close their doors for keeps. Thankfully one of the two sub-companies, Catalfamo Flooring, was not affected by this, and I was "rehired" by Catalfamo Flooring to be part of a very limited amount of staff with one goal in mind. We were going to stand the company back up, and be better than before.
Sales & Design Consultant, 08/2010 to Current Catalfamo Flooring of Fort Lauderdale – Fort Lauderdale, FL With my growing field of knowledge & expertise in the tile industry that I gathered by maintaining the online database for Catalfamo & Fast Floors, I quickly became the go to person for basically any question a staff member had. Still working at the corporate office, I was asked one day to go for a week to the showroom, still running the catalog, but since they were short on staff, I was only to help out with greeting clients, answering phones and line them up for the "Sales People". By the end of the week, without any guidance or instructions from anyone, I closed a deal of close to $40K and needless to say, that was the end of me being catalog manager. This was my time to shine and since the first month in Sales, I maintained being the number one sales person for all staff employed, showroom and online. I love my job, and to get returning clients is the best "thank you" for what I do.Today, I need to look for a company where I can take my career to a new level, new challenges and new faces to work with. Although my work is my life and my passion, I have lost motivation as I feel that I have been so long with the company, I got forgotten. I have not gotten a single increase in wages nor have any promotion been given to me since I started in sales even with me doing way more for the company than what is expected from my position. I have been labeled as the money maker, and therefore don\'t see any advances in my career is I choose to stay.
