The job I had working with Best Buy was a great experience on building up my communication skills with customers, fellow employees, management, as well as the customers entering the store. The job required me to learn how to approach customers in the best way possible for the best sale possible. I learned that you can sell just about anything, but the important thing is to "attach." Never sell one thing. I worked in a few different departments in my time at Best Buy, but my favorite position was working in the computer sales department. My duties were to try and attach as much extra merchandise to the item being bought as possible. For example: In both February and April of 2012 I lead the entire floor in sales and got rewarded for being the top salesman both months. On one receipt, I sold a computer, but also attached a 3 year protection plan, a printer, ink, paper, a battery backup, a mouse pad, 2 thumb drives, and an SD card. Turned just a 499 dollar purchase into a 1,240 dollar purchase. I also worked in mp3, gaming, 2 weeks geek squad training, and car radio sales while employed with Best Buy.
