This was a silica plant in which i was in the Fusion department, in this department we got the raw material from railroad cars and from there we pumped into a large hopper that had a remote that operated a valve that filled littler hopper to be loaded into the silos that was above our furnaces which a forklift had to deliver a full hopper each time to be poured into the furnace with a overhead crane and once this procedure was completed i had to pack the raw silica into the furnace until it had a distinct cone feature ...if not done properly the material could build up around the electrode and break it in which it could cause loss of product into the floor and/or bad product . the process to melt it was using 2 electrodes that struck an arc in the middle of the furnace and cause the raw material to melt into a a liquid state and change the material into a glass substance in which the furnace spun at a high rpm to keep a cylinder shape then once done after the 3 hr process would set an additional 1hr and 30 mins on the rotating structure for the cooling stage then after that was complete we had to hook it up to the overhead crane and dump it into the pit which took very well crane operations to make sure not to break the 10,000 lbs structure which then after unloaded out of the furnace was a process to put the furnace together and get the rings to take the rock out of the pit to be cooled and processed in the other department. In the job i done all the procedures of operating the crane putting the furnace together and driving the fork lift and removing the rock

This company is a food grade plastic company which they make plastic for food bags, candy papers/wrappers, other food material. I am a maintenance tech at the plant i have many jobs i am relied on which consists of bearing replacements, replacing of faulty equipment, greasing bearings, keeping machines in operating condition, taking diagnostics on pumps and mechanical parts for job log, welding and fabricating different structures to help or improve machinery and/or workers. I am a very quick learner and will help out any workers that have a question or needs something improved under the right recommendations and go through the right process in doing so. Very clean environment so in which nothing mechanically is going on i do many house keeping projects like wiping down motors and fan shrouds of any debre or substances that could get stuck or lodged into the fan causing any mechanical failure and also cleaning up and oil spills or water from floor and inspect to see if anything is leaking any fluids. with our routine maintenance we had to fill self lubricating pumps for our chain drives with the proper oil and grease the different bearing with the right greases we have provided. the bigger jobs i have done with this plant is removal of our main die and replacing it with a new one while taking all the proper procedures in safety and mechanical aspect of the job, and having to replace a main treatment roll which is some upwards of 6000lbs and length of 30ft with use of an overhead crane and replacing all the bearings and using all the proper techniques to replace the roll. Many other jobs i have done is small bearings on smaller rolls and stick welding extensions on the mixing arm in our silo using what i have learned from school for the strongest hold by beveling the metal so the weld can seat properly for long lasting strong hold and TIG welding a piece of stainless round stock on the knife blade arms which spins at high rpm.
