Victory Repair, also headquarters for A&D taxi service was my first full time position as a mechanic. Here I spent many hours day to day keeping 13 taxi's serviced, repaired and on the road. Along with weekly preventative maintenance on the taxi's I took care of Victories transmission removal and installation for their transmission master technician. On any given day i would -Service air conditioning, heating, engine-cooling and electrical systems, replace belts, hoses and steering systems, remove and replaced tires, shocks, struts, brakes, ect....
This position was the first stepping stone in my career.
I took this position in the transportation department to have a solid career in the automotive industry. I obtained my class b CDL license with air brake, passenger and school bus endorsements. I worked along side 2 other mechanics completing daily preventative maintenance on our bus fleet and eventually took over all brake/wheel pulls and inspections. I updated and kept track of all records for service, repairs and DOT inspections. I followed checklists to verify that all important parts were examined, serviced air conditioning, heating, engine-cooling and electrical systems, rebuilt faulty assemblies, including steering systems and linkages, serviced brakes and fuel systems, removed and replaced tires, shocks, struts, and all most anything that wasn't under manufacture warranty.
I worked at Harpusrville Central School in Harpusville NY for Leonard Bus Sales as a contracted technician. Here I kept up a fleet of 32 DOT vehicles which included all school buses and district vehicles on my own. I had a complete inventory of all parts I would need on a daily basis. I kept track of all records for service, repairs and DOT inspections. I followed checklists to verify that all important parts were examined, serviced air conditioning, heating, engine-cooling and electrical systems, rebuilt faulty assemblies, including steering systems and linkages, serviced brakes and fuel systems, removed and replaced tires, shocks, struts. Removed, rebuilt and/or replaced engines, transmissions, rear differentials and anything that was feasible to do on my own.
Here i would maintain and repair all vehicles for business and pleasure, which included delivery vans, family vehicles, motorcycles, snowmobiles, atv's, tailors. I also rebuilt a 2001 Hino refrigerated box truck from the ground up, from tires, brakes drive train, body, paint and refrigeration. I delivered seafood twice a week, maintained vehicles in between delivery days and on our slow times, completed work around shop and owners home.
