Before starting my job at Tri State I didn't have my union book, after working with the company a month they got me the placement I needed and backed me to get into a union. This was a great deal for me not just because of the big pay raise, but allowed me to go on all jobs that they had going on and not have to worry about a shop supervisor asking me what union hall I was from.
While working as a laborer, I had such duties as raking and leveling concrete, setting forms to height for concrete slabs. I needed to keep machines such as rider, and walk behind trowel machines fueled up, oil checked, and on finishing blade machines that blades were good with no worn blades. In mornings needed to make sure truck that Ii was driving had all of the tools needed for job I was going to that day, and at end of day all tools that came on my truck were accounted for and loaded back on, unless I was told we could leave certain tools because we were coming back the next day.
I transfered to Mercer County College, and continued my field of study at which I didn't complete and receive a degree.
