With any working position, I have always considered myself to be a conscientious person with excellent on time attendance. I have good organizational skills and have with every job tried to put forth my best effort. I have always enjoyed working with children and the elderly. I ran an in home licensed day care for two years after the birth of my first child. Worked several years at Delaware Stated Hospital during the summer while in school in the geriatric unit. It is here where I learned many of the skills needed to care for an elderly person. Although this may not be considered professional, I took care of my Mother for 2 years when she was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer in her home. I have worked in Marketing research for 16 (+) years where I learned to work quite effectively on my own. I was always willing to help others and make my own deadlines. This past year I decided to move on from custodial work with the school system after working for 7 years and ended up volunteering at a Care and Rehab. Center located not 5 minutes from my home. I found great satisfaction in being able to help the Alzheimer Patients. I discovered the compassion and care that they need and began to understand the loneliness that some of them may be feeling. Currently I work for "Arc" under the position as a vendor. I am a Job Coach for an intellectually challenged young Man. I believe all of the above has led me to want to work on a one on one basis with an elderly person who is need of companionship and care. I truly believe I have the ability to do this and more importantly, the desire.
"All Geriatric patients deserve to be treated with respect and dignity". One of the first things I learned when working in the geriatric unit at the State Hospital.
***Home Day Care Provider
Quickly learned the word "flexibility"- Although routine stayed the same on a daily basis, always something thrown in to disrupt the schedule.
Became a very creative problem solver when it came to working out the disputes between (4) two year olds.
***Marketing Research Representative
For this job the number one job requirement: need to be VERY detail oriented and complete all assignments on time. When needed, I would help others that were unable to complete their deadline.
Maintaining a clean, safe and healthy environment for each School I have been assigned.
***Mobile car washing

I am currently working as a vendor through the Arc of Arundel County. My position is part time Monday through Friday of every week. The young Man I work with has a developmental disability. He works as a custodial helper. I provide mentoring to insure this individual has a positive and successful work experience and remains focused on his job. Currently, I am assigned to work one on one with the individual and work closely with the custodial staff at Elkton High School. I like this job and hope to be able to continue to work with this young man until the end of the school year. At this point, I think I will no longer be needed, as this young man has been making great strides in all areas and has the support of the staff he works with. This decision however, is not mine to make.

My job is mainly to help assist the clients during the morning hours in the dining area. I help to bring clients into the dining area, I serve coffee, tea or hot chocolate according to their desire. I also will at times just sit at their tables and chat. I have been known to dance with a few that are nimble on their feet !! Usually there is at least one activity they perform as a group and I try to help out with the activity as well. I Love being a part of the clients lives, if just for a 2 hour time, 3 days a week. I have found that helping others has been a benefit to me as well as them. Many days I have walked away from the Center feeling better about myself....simply by helping another. This is a good feeling.

Throughout my years in the school system, I consistently maintained good performance reviews, always arrived to work on time, and performed my duties to the best of my ability. I started out in a 4 hour position and was then given an 8 hour position lasting the rest of my career. It was during the summer of 2012, I decided I wanted to change my career and pursue another direction.

I worked in a part time position (that was more like a full time) for 16 wonderful years with this Co. As a Field Rep. my duty was to collect in store data with a computer. I was assigned a territory and visited assigned stores within my area on a regular basis. The information I collected was used to enhance in store performance of our clients products. I collected data at various levels, including: location, shelf space, and promotional POS (point of sale) of many products and this data was returned to the client. The most important aspect of my job was to be very detail oriented and I quickly learned if a job was not done to specifications.....it was done over again on our own time which didn't include pay. Communicating with the Store Manager was vital as well as maintaining a good relationship with him/her. Organizational skills was a must in order to get our weekly assignments completed on time. Absolutely loved this job and my Supervisor. I needed to move on because at that point in my I life needed something that was full time with benefits.

It was at Delaware State Hospital that I received my first exposure to working with geriatric patients. I worked a full time summer job for what I believe to be 2 summers.
