Motivated and passionate fine arts photography and foundation arts educator driven to inspire students to pursue academic and personal excellence. My educational philosophy promotes the creation of safe and challenging learning environments in which students are encouraged to become activated learners through single and group creative opportunities and exercises in observation and reflection.
Instruct students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles by employing a rich variety of instructional resources. Continue to attend workshops on diversity training, equity issues, outlier student motivation, the preparation gap and explorations of potential of new media in the classroom. Global faculty development opportunities have included travel to China, Tibet, India, South Africa, Peru and Brazil. Created a hybrid film and digital photography program with topical courses such as the study of the landscape, the portrait and self-portrait and social documentary traditions. Developed the digital photography program, designed a lighting studio and enhanced computer center with professional pigmented digital printer and eBooks projects for iPads. Integrated Photoshop. Lightroom and Final Cut Pro tools in a new Media Studio Course to develop digital competencies in the foundation arts program. Continue to work with the Addison Gallery of Art's Educational Staff in their Museum Learning Center to develop specific portfolios from the permanent collections for classroom use. Work with various student groups to develop student leadership skills on the topics of human rights.
All levels of traditional film photography program and a foundation 2D design taught. Designed the school's first color darkroom and made design recommendations to improve the existing black and white darkroom. Advised students in the fine arts program.
