I worked as a dispatcher for 13 months, then in patrol, served in the Community Resource Bureau as a Neighborhood Resource Officer, and am currently serving as a SRO in the middle schools. I have taught drug, alcohol, gang and violence prevention programs in the school district. I have done Meth awareness presentations to groups from Fargo up to the Langdon area. I ran the National Night Out event in Grand Forks for seven years. I also brought the Landlord Training Program to our department. For approximately 11 years, I was also a crisis negotiator. I work with crime issues in the school when I am not in a classroom teaching. I also work with families teaching them skills to make them stronger.
2009-Present Member, GREAT National Training Team
I am currently a national instructor for a program called GREAT, which stands for Gang Resistance Education and Training. I function as an independent contractor, along with approximately 50 other officers or retired officers from around the country. We travel to training sites and teach other officers how to teach the program in their schools.
I have been a part of two work groups who are working to update different areas of the curriculum. This program has a family component, an elementary component, a middle school component and a summer component. One work group I was a part of helped to revise the families curriculum, and the other is working to rewrite the test that officers must pass as a part of their certification process in becoming GREAT officers.
I have done work for Parole and Probation, going to the homes of people who are on probation to run random drug tests.
I have worked at the Mission at the desk area.
I owned a boutique.
Community Volunteer Work-
I have served on the board of the Third Street Clinic in the capacity of board member, board vice chair and eventually board president. I left the board when I had served the maximum number of years and terms allowed by the bylaws. During this time, I was responsible for writing several grants for the Clinic, and was also in charge of monitoring and reporting on those grants.
I was a member of the Fair Housing of the Dakotas board, and was involved in oversight of the organization, along with other members from across the state.
I am a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and serve in a variety of roles including proclaimer, engaged couples sponsor (with my husband), and jail ministry provider.

I am contracted to go to assigned training sites and teach officers from the US and Central America how to teach the GREAT Program in their communities.

I attended UND from 1978-81 off and on while working full time. I then quit when I got sick and got too far behind. I went back to school a few years ago and started taking classes in Special Ed, with the hopes of eventually obtaining a degree in education.
I attended BSU my first two years out of high school. I started with an instrumental music major, where I was involved in several performing music groups, and then switched to poli sci/criminal justice. I then transferred to UND.
