As a high school counselor, I serve in the areas of career counseling, college planning, implementation of 504 accommodations for students who qualify, attend IEP meetings, administer reading, gifted and talented, and ACT tests. I keep credit checks for each student and build a schedule based on this and district requirements for graduation. Students are also required to pass End of Instruction exams before graduation. I must ensure these exams are passed or an alternate assessment is passed and in place. I also identify at risk seniors who do not have the necessary credits to graduate. Once these students are identified, a plan is made and parents are contacted for a meeting. I also identify students who qualify for scholarships, enrichment programs, low income benefits, and benefits based on ethnicity. I make this information available through copies, social media, and daily announcements.
Coordinating and conducting events is a requirement of this position. College and manufacturing tours are an example of these events. Our students tour prospective colleges and manufacturing plants based on their stated career goals. A college fair is held each year at Tecumseh High School, and I made the arrangements this year with over 20 colleges and business represented. ?We also have freshmen orientation each year for incoming freshmen. I am responsible for recruiting help, activities and theme for the event, and designing and ordering shirts for those who help.
Identifying and counseling students who have emotional and personal problems is also a crucial part of my profession. Some students need more intense counseling than I can provide so these students are referred out to private counselors.
Any student needing assistance with any issue I will find assistance and resources to meet their needs. ?
As a rural carrier associate, I delivered mail to rural routes. There are five rural routes in Tecumseh. I was trained and delivered mail for all five routes at various times. I was responsible for separating mail and packages and ensuring the items were delivered to the proper address.
While at the post office, I also learned how to sell and print postage for packages. I sold stamps, money orders, and took payment for post office boxes. I had to balance money from the drawer I was assigned.
Carrying city mail was also a duty I performed at the post office. I was responsible for walking mail through the city route and delivering to the proper addresses.
All of these duties include scanning packages, certified mail, and scanning arrival points when required. These duties also included driving, walking, and working in any conditions. ?
After completing basic training and AIT in April of 1999, I attended drill one weekend a month in Stillwater, OK at the 366 Military Police Unit. I was then transferred to the OK National Guard in Norman, OK to complete my enlistment obligation. While at these duty stations I was responsible for supply needs. I accounted for and issued supplies to the soldiers at these units. I also organized storage areas and helped with administrative duties.
While enlisted I was required to attend annual training once a year. This training consisted of a two week mission at a camp or Army base. Performing physical training exercises, preparing for a possible deployment, completing obstacle courses, and performing maintenance on weapons were all duties required while attending this training. ?
