Successfully taught the HSA Government course which requires organization, classroom management and the ability to be flexible. I received two off-site AVID trainings and worked with the AVID team from 2007 until 2012. I implement these strategies on a daily basis to create a student centered-learning environment. During this tenure I mentored one student teacher in the Spring of 2013. I created a dialog on her lessons and reflected daily with a praise and critique. I collaboratively worked with her to successfully create an environment of respect in order for the lessons to be effective.
I successfully taught the seventh grade Eastern Hemisphere curriculum. During my tenure at Springfield Middle, I worked with Dr. Clyde Harrell in the development of the curriculum as well as aligning that curriculum to the state standards. I served as the team leader of twelve seventh grade teachers from 2002-2004 and had much success in planning, collaborating and mentoring. I supervised two student teachers in this tenure with skill, compassion, and collaboration. I worked with Administration under Dr. David Reeder to facilitate meetings, scheduling, class retentions and training. I worked collaboratively across the disciplines in a leadership role to provide a cohesive learning experience for the seventh graders.
I am currently three classes shy and an internship from receiving an MA Degree in Educational Leadership. I have maintained a 4.0 and have collaboratively worked with administrators, teachers, and students to complete the requirements for the degree.
I transfered credits from 1989-1990 to Shepherd College from WVU's engineering program. I began full time at Shepherd with the intent of obtaining a BA in Secondary Education. I was a member and treasurer of Phi Alpha Theta which is an Honors History Fraternity. I decided to take additional classes to meet the requirements of a BA in History. I was a continual member of the Dean's List at Shepherd and graduated with honors
