  • Specific duties and achievements include: Management: Oversaw the development, design and construction of the Department's thirty-five million dollar Palm Desert Station facility, while serving as commander of that station.
  • Managed three multimillion dollar contracts for police services for the cities of Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert and Indian Wells serving as Chief of Police for each city.
  • During this same time period managed a large unincorporated area covering approximately 1500 square miles and served a population of over 200,000 residents.
  • Operations & Logistics: As Commander was responsible for developing and managing a $40,000,000 budget.
  • Responsible for managing all personnel under my command as well as three additional task forces, controlling the procurement of durable and expendable items under the budget.
  • A recognized expert in planning and executing complex operations with accuracy and success, including the scheduling, coordinating and movement of hundreds of personnel from both my Department as well as other agencies and the timely transfer of millions of dollars worth of equipment to support and maintain emergency operations.
  • Worked with federal agencies coordinating several international events including the protection and security of five U.S. Presidents as well as several foreign leaders.
  • Training & Development: Investigations: Developed, wrote and administered daily briefing training for the 800 personnel assigned to the Corrections Division as well as managed all annual training and certification training.
  • Wrote dozens of policies and procedures for corrections, patrol and investigations.
  • Taught, as an adjunct professor, at Santa Barbara Business College helped open their Palm Desert Campus and instructed Criminal Justice courses.
  • Served as a Sheriff's Detective in the Departments Special Investigations Bureau, As a Detective Sergeant supervising the 16 detectives within the Palm Desert Station, and served as a Detective Lieutenant managing the Palm Desert Sheriff's Stations Detective Bureau and all investigative special teams.
  •  Commanded the Riverside County Sheriff Department's Central Homicide Bureau where I successfully wrote and received a $500,000 OJP to investigate cold homicide cases.
  • The homicide Bureau was comprised of 25 Homicide Detectives, five Homicide Detective Sergeants and the Sheriff Department's Crime Analysis Unit.
  • Conducted numerous internal investigations involving complaints from the public, departmental policy/procedural violations as well as criminal violations.
