This job was a seasonal position that I held for 2 seasons in a row and ran from Aug- Jan each season. I left after the completion of this season to accept a Fish culture specialist job in Montana.
Responsible for upkeep of Region 3 block management area signs and sign-in boxes in the Butte, Boulder, and Anaconda areas. Duties included maintaining signs, and sign-in boxes, talking with landowners, hunters, FWP staff, and the general public, issuing permission slips to hunters, and education of hunters and the general public regarding rules and procedures for block management areas. Worked under little or no supervision, in all weather conditions. I was responsible for reading and understanding maps, and defining area boundaries using signs. I worked with others over the phone, worked with difficult landowners and hunters, resolved conflicts, and reacted quickly and appropriately in various high stress situations. Worked closely with local game wardens. Went for several ride alongs, reported problems/violations in a detailed, timely, and accurate manner.
This job was a seasonal position that ran May- August each year. I held this job for 3 seasons and left after the last season to accept a hatchery internship at Washoe park trout hatchery.
Responsible for upkeep of Region 3 Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs). Duties included upkeep of fences and removal of noxious weeds using hazardous chemicals, mechanical methods (cutting or pulling), and biological control. Worked under little or no supervision, and in all weather conditions. I had to be able to pack in necessary equipment long distances. Obtained certification as a governement applicatior for noxious weed removal in the State of Montana. Also received an ATV safety certificate. Learned the locations and boundaries of every WMA in Region 3. I was responsible for supervising 2 additional summer crew members to ensure projects were completed on time. Also had to monitor the movements of cows on a rest rotaion grazing pasture, and ensure that cowhands moved cows into the correct pasture treatment on the correct date.
Have lots of experience with noxious weed I.D and noxious weed spraying and removal, both chemical and mechanical (worked for 3 summers on a state of Montana weed spray crew)
Familiar with operation of global positioning system. (GPS)

I am a hardworking fisheries professional who has worked my way up from various seasonal positions to a permanent fish culturist job. I would like to increase my responsibilities and feel that skills taught at the leadership development course will help me work toward my next promotion to senior fish culturist.
I have some experience in leading people, I used to be active in student government in high school, was active in leadership roles in several clubs in college, and served as crew leader during my time on the Montana fish,wildlife,and parks weed spray crew.
Since I have been employed with the Wyoming Game and Fish department I have participated in various community education activities where a leadership role was required in order to instruct the public, and I was recently nominated to serve on a social media committee for the department.
I have never taken a leadership class and feel that it would benefit me greatly in my career with the Wyoming Game and Fish Department
