Producing mainly four color process work on Heidelberg Speedmaster presses in the 28,and 40 inch formats. Both presses are equipped with aqueous coaters,and are used on about 80% of the jobs that are run.Have trained a press helper to assist with running operations. Have been very quality conscious,while maximizing production speeds.
Started as Second Pressman on a Miller TP 104 Perfector. Was responsible for throwing paper,checking ink,and water levels during the run,making sure all chemicals were filled,and also mixed pms colors.
Made First Pressman after 4 years of apprenticeship.Ran the Miller TP 104 until 2003,when a Heidelberg 10 Color Pefector was installed. This press was equipped with a Cutstar unit for running roll stock. About 90% of the jobs that were run,were run with the Cutstar.
We perfected around 95% of all our jobs.This included heavy coverage,four color process work with varnishes.
Was responsible for Customer O.K.'s,and mostly worked without any supervision on second shift.
Did a majority of the press maintenance,including,roller replacement and setting. Press lubrication.Maintaining a clean dampening system. Also helped design,build,and convert the air delivery system to the press.We were replacing the air hoses that supplied air to the press from the compressor cabinets,at an alarming rate.They were failing,so we made a bank of air tubes from PVC.
Started as a press helper,working on both Harris and Miller sheetfed presses.I also spent time filling in on weekends, working on their web presses. Was responsible for press supplies,ink,water,and paper.Worked into a First Pressman position after about 3 years of being a press helper.
