2012, Founder of Open Hands Outreach Program, a 501(c)3 non-profit charity. Mission statement: Identify and locate resources to meet educational and economic issues, provide access to basic life necessities such as food, shelter, health and personal care. Our Focus is on veterans, but includes those living in poverty, the elderly and disabled.
My responsibilities include community outreach, working with partner agencies, administrative oversight of day-to-day activities, Veteran Programs, shelter and the Warehouse Food Pantry. A large portion of my time is spent developing new relations and increasing public awareness on the needs of Veterans and those in need.
I began this venture as a Volunteer in the Warehouse Food Pantry and thrift store in 2005. I became aware of the struggles Veterans face. In response to this, I met with a group of interested individuals, churches and veteran organizations who came together and Open Hands Outreach Program began.
In 2014, OHOP opened the "Kennedy House" for veterans who had lost their home or were at risk of becoming homeless. We offer up to 4 veterans a place they can call home.
