I am most skilled in direct care in day programs (ATE) and residential programs for adults with IDDA. I have been on a break for a couple of years and am looking to get back into this field again.
I always show up to work at least 10 minutes early. I never no show and I am able to work well in a team environment. I can also work well alone if needed and am self sufficient and a self learner if the job requires it. I do not take a lot of time off and don't get sick often. So you can count on me being there as scheduled.
I was a driver for inmates in the DOC, transporting from one facility to another and to Dr.'s appts. I also transported patients in Psych. wards to and from other facilities around the state. I worked on call and any shift with little warning or time to prepare. I ended up leaving the job due to my wife at the time, did not like me going on calls during the night. Then my wife's car broke down and I had to stay unemployed to transport my kids and her around with the one remaining car we had.
I was a working supervisor, which means that I worked on the yard crew and was the leader as well. I drove all the workers to and from the work sites. We did all aspects of yard care; lawn, weeds, pruning, hedging, raking, etc. I left because Coastal looked to be a better paying job due to the hours that I'd be working.
The first 7 years in the company, I worked in a vocational day program, ATE, in Ashland, Or. I loved the hours and the days. M-F 7am to 3pm. The pay was good and the benefits were awesome but I was begged to come and work at a group home in Medford for the same company. It was a home for teen boys that were severely behavioral and autistic. I left due to moving up here for a change of scenery and I always wanted to leave the Medford area. (Too small.)
After high school, I attended college and ran my own business. I trapped and relocated animals that were bothersome to residential and commercial property owners. I also did exterminations work too. At first the business was lucrative, then other people started up businesses doing this kind of work and the competition got too much and I started losing money, so I worked for donations only until I paid off my overhead then closed up shop.
I took all the computer classes and all the business classes. I was in college prep classes from my junior year to graduation. My GPA was 3.3 when I graduated.
I took two years of college courses, including preliminary studies in Geology. I never received my associates degree. I dropped out due to rising costs of schooling as it was Southern Oregon State College and became a University while I was attending there.
