I received an award for going the extra mile for a customer at the Marriott downtown.
I was a server at the fine dining restaurant located in the Marriott.
One evening a couple with a young baby came in for a nice dinner, however, the baby became fussy and loud which was making it impossible for the couple to enjoy their dinner.
I was not busy at the time so I took it upon myself to ask the couple if they would mind if I held the baby so that they could eat their food.
The couple seemed astonished that I would even ask, however, they replied with a "smile and a nod".
I calmed the baby down and was able to sit and hold the baby while the couple was able to eat and enjoy their dinner in peace.
The couple thanked me and left a very generous tip.
I did the gesture out of the kindness of my heart and seeing the smile upon their faces when they left meant more to me than the more than generous tip they left for me.
I had no clue that they would write a letter to corporate, but they did.
The company gave me an award.

I have been with this company for 7 years and I am still employed here.
I am a trainer and server, therefore, I coach and teach new servers the requirements and correct way to take care of the guests.
I teach the different ways that they can increase their sales and how important it is for not only themselves but for the good and success of the company.
I have been a devoted employee to this company and have given them 7 hard working years of my life, however, I truly feel that they have not attempted in any way to show me their appreciation for being a dedicated employee.
I have had opportunities to move up in the company, however, due to unstable management and many more reasons I declined.
I have decided to change jobs in hopes that I will find a company who appreciates me just as much as I appreciate them.
