Began a Tool and Die Apprenticeship on June 5, 1995. I spent time training with Journeymen in the Jig and Fixture department, Tool and Die (both Die repair/build and Devices) and Metal Assembly. I got along well with everyone I worked with and was able to learn something new from them all. After earning my Journeyman's card, I went on to work in Checking Fixture Build, Weld Tool Build, and Weld Tool Fabrication.
Later, was instrumental in starting an area outside of the machine shop that finished details coming off of the machines (Detail finishing) and organizing them in an effort to feed the parts, as a whole tool, to the assembly people. This was to comply with the synchronous build process.
4.0 GPA in the academic portion of my apprenticeship program.
Earned Apprenticeship awards and recognitions for outstanding performance.
Received high marks and excellent comments from all manager's, in their reviews, during apprenticeship.
Worked with the full length lay out drawings to pull out the individual details to draw on separate sheets.
Cut sections and turned the details into the three views needed for the build process.
Worked with and coordinated information from EGM's and other personnel in Body-in-White and Paint/Seal divisions for building and publishing Production Assembly Documents. These documents were both written and pictorial. The written portion was done through an EDS Text DBMS database computer system and the pictorial portion came from our in house CAD people. Once all these parts were brought together, I would get buy off from the EGM's and then final publish them to the assembly centers.
Handled tens of thousands of dollars in sales through, both contractor sales and customer sales every day.
Drawer always balanced to within +/- .10 every day.
As Head cashier, I was responsible for the scheduling and training of all the other cashiers.
Apprenticeship classes included, Physics, Technical Mathematics, Spacial Relations, Blue Print Reading and Metallurgy.
In addition to the apprenticeship classes, Writing for Business and US Government classes were completed to earn the Associates Degree. Achieved a 4.0 GPA
