I have 8 years experience as a law enforcement officer with the state of New Mexico and 7 years total experience in the United States Army. In the Army I was trained in various tasks and assigned to multiple duty stations to include South Korea. During my service I served in various leadership positions where I was responsible for the every day tasks and the field operations associated with those positions.
During my law enforcement career, I was Valedictorian of my academy class and was awarded the firearms award and the physical fitness award for my academy class. While working at the Carlsbad Police Department I was promoted to Corporal a year before my peers and was trained and worked as a shift supervisor in the absence of the Sergeant. In 2011 I was recognized the Exceptional DWI Officer award. I have worked as Certified Physical Fitness Instructor for four years, where I was responsible for the training, evaluating and testing of recruits for the department. I am currently working as a Certified FTO, General Instructor, TRT member and have recently been assigned as the Reserve Unit Liaison. I have been given the responsibility and honor of being the voice of the unit and getting the unit trained and back on duty. With this new assignment, my plan is to educate and prepare the reserve unit to represent the Eddy County Sheriff's Department with the same professionalism as the full time regular Deputies. With 8 years of training and experience that I have received, I am prepared to take on this assignment and have successful results.
