Dale Cassens is an Alternative School in St. Lucie County serving a variety of students. We have an accelerated program that serves over-age for grade students in an effort to assist them in graduating. The county's LAPP program is housed at Dale Cassens, serving teen mothers, including an on-site day care. Dale Cassens is also where students are placed through a district placement review committee in lieu of expulsion. Dale Cassens also has programs for IND, ASD, and EBD students that are not able to attend regular public schools due to the intensity of their behaviors.
As dean, I mentor, tutor, counsel, and discipline students from all of the very diverse aforementioned groups of students.
All years as dean, my final evaluations were all "Highly Effective"
Recruited and assisted in creating the first Accelerated Program in St. Lucie County, serving over-age for grade 8th graders. Students are able to complete 8th grade in the first semester and 9th grade in the second; therefore, allowing them to complete the 8th and 9th grade in one academic school year. It is a very rigorous and fast-paced program that has been very successful in the it's first 5 years.
