I have worked vigorously in the shoe and fashion industry since 2000, with a myriad of job titles and career paths under my belt. With a debut in shoe sales, I quickly jumped into branding, marketing, art direction, and creative direction for some of the top footwear companies globally. I have been fortunate enough to work at the factory level, the retail level, in all stages of development, sourcing, wholesale and creative, with keen attention to the rapidly emerging worlds of trends, the ever-changing market, and brand relativity. My reputation in the industry is one of very high connectivity, insanely networked, and very well respected for my past performances as well as the diversity of my scope of work.
After 18 months of working as a contractor/consultant for Solestruck I was brought in-house for the online shoe-mega-source. During my time at Solestruck, working bi-coastally between NYC and Portland, my roles were varied, many, and continually changing as the company flourished under my direction. Those tasks and duties included:
For 18 months I owned and operated my own branding firm with a concentration on footwear clients. With each client I developed a different plan of attack depending on their needs. I was lucky to work with top global brands including, Jeffrey Campbell (LA, CA), Ego and Greed (Hong Kong), Senso (Aus), Solestruck (Portland OR), and MATIKO (Long Beach, CA).
While working with these companies I created and completed high-impact work in the following fields:
Ty McBride Industries, TMI, was closed in June 2011 as I was offered an in-house position with my then largest client Solestruck.
While at Jeffrey Campbell I had the intense and very lucky experience to work directly under Jeffrey at a time when the company had significantly less than ten employees. What is today known as one of the top players in the mid-tier shoe market, was then still a developing indie-brand that was a favorite with in-the-know stylistas, fashion fiends and was largely found at top boutiques stateside. Due to the size of the company, I had the opportunity to wear many hats and work in areas including (but not limited to):
