Responsible for conducting comprehensive bio-psychosocial evaluation for children, youth and adults. Bio-psychosocial evaluations include assessing the identified client clinically and provide a clinical diagnosis. Attend staffing with the Juvenile Probation Department and the Texas Juvenile Justice Department and providing recommendations to the probation officers regarding treatment issues.
Responsible for providing services to clients under the Second Chance Act (SCA) Family-Based Program. This collaborative effort helps with the process of providing good transitional services to residents in a residential treatment center by assisting them to successfully return to their communities and families by helping to eliminate barriers for better outcomes. Responsible for creating a transitional exit plan for each resident, facilitating psychosocial groups, linking to community resources, conducting home visits and case management. Also participated in community outreach, advocacy, and meditation activities.
Provided counseling service in diverse community settings designed to provide a variety of counseling and support services. My duties as a counselors was to provide counseling services to children, adolescents, adults, or families that had multiple issues, such as mental health disorders and addiction, disability and employment needs, school problems, and trauma. Employed with the At-Risk program with the Socorro Independent School District. Duties included working with the school counselor on the development of appropriate case plans to meet individual student/family needs. Conducted home visits and case management for students identified at risk, assisted the school counselor in improving the educational success and the social and emotional development of all students. Other services provided included parent education and training classes, collaboration with community agencies and organizations, and program coordination. Served on an interdisciplinary team to provide tutoring service for student who failed the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) test. Assisted school counselor in preparing lesson plans for tutoring programs and assisted in creating small group innovative lessons to encourage active student participation.
Employed with the Pre-K program for children with disabilities (PPCD) at Glen Cove Elementary with the Ysleta School District. Worked with the teacher in assisting incorporation of special education students within an inclusion setting, in the implementation of creative group programs benefiting students with special needs (ages 4 and 5) and enhancing their social skills. Worked in close collaboration with teachers, speech therapist, and diagnosticians to provide needed services for this special needs population.
Employed as a substitute teacher for the Ysleta Independent School District while completing my undergraduate studies. Duties included following lesson plans, managing the classroom environment, providing needed materials and supplies to accomplish the learning activity as stipulated in the lesson plan.
