Barry Hillegas - Macomb , STATE
  • To whom it may concern, I am currently seeking employment and have seen the opening at the Penn State Lehigh Valley campus for a Facilities Supervisor.
  • As I have reviewed the qualifications for this position, I believe that I can be a strong asset to the Penn State Facilities program, as it is very similar to what I have been doing in the past.
  • I was employed for 33 years at the Quakertown Community School District (QCSD), where I was the Coordinator of Custodial Services and the Custodial Maintenance Supervisor.
  • I was responsible for 13 buildings and I had a staff of 45 employees along with substitute employees.
  • While at QCSD, I performed in many different areas other than just custodial coordinations.
  • I was responsible for Warehouse operations, Building Mail and Supplies Courier, and Building Security.
  • I also have working experience with electrical, roofing, concrete, fencing, security, door, and contracting companies.
  • I had scheduled employees, approved vacations, interviewed and recommended employment and termination (if needed), supervised and trained all custodial maintenance employees, planned their assigned work areas, approved their time cards, evaluated employees, handled disciplinary issues, inspected their workmanship, purchased equipment and cleaning chemicals within budgetary requirements, and helped the Director of Facilities develop five year budget plans for district buildings.
  • Additionally, I was responsible for all the security systems, security codes, keys, locks and hardware issues at QCSD for the last 23 years of my employment.
  • I trained with Best Access Systems in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1991 for a week long session.
  • During my training, I learned everything regarding the Best A-2 system.
  • From keying, combinating and pinning cores, installation of cores, lock cylinders, lock sets, tubular dead bolts, rim cylinders, and cutting and issuing keys and keeping records on the Keystone 600 and G-600 databases.
  • I have also performed repairs on different hardware devices such as Von-Duprin, Seargent, Schlage, Total Doors by Openings, Arrow, and Kawneer during my career.
