Under broad supervision, supervises a full caseload of probation/ parolees providing case planning and classification for purposes of tailoring supervision to an individual, conducts interviews with probation/ parolees, family members, referral counselors and law enforcement personnel to determine compliance with probation/ parole conditions. Investigates allegations of probation/parole violations including both technical and criminal elements. Requests and serve warrants as the situation dictates. Complete supervision reports. Owns assigned tasks. May serve as a lead or train staff. Performs job responsibilities with minimal supervision. Serves as job expert or organization resource in assigned areas. Conducts Board requested pre-parole investigations. Counsels probationers or parolees via office visits telephone inquiries, community contacts and correspondence. Develops liasons and networks in order to make plans for helping offenders with life adjustments. Inform offenders or inmates of requirements of conditional release, such as office visits, restitution payments or educational and employment stipulations. Investigates disciplinary infractions. Investigates activities of probationers or parolees to ascertain their level of readjustment to society. Investigates background histories of probationers or parolees; review court files, police reports and other pertinent reports to gather information. Lead worker on assigned teams of technical workers. Monitors and conducts surveillance of probationers/ parolees. Provides offenders with assistance in matters concerning detainees, sentences in order jurisdictions, and writs. Testifies in court concerning matters pertaining to clients such as sentencing, trials, pleas and violations of probation or parole conditions. Writes reports detailing clients' progress and other reports/ paperwork as necessary accurately completing them within established time frame. Performs arrest of parolees who have violated the terms of their release, in accordance to statutory requirements.
Collects and analyzes information from inmate interviews and various sources in order to determine the appropriate inmate security custody level. Adjusts security custody levels as appropriate based on behavior, disciplinary reports, inmate interviews, changes in legal status and other safety/security concerns.
Completes routine reviews of the inmate records to ensure appropriate custody and housing assignments. Initiates inmate movement through data entry in the Inmate Management System.Interprets and processes judicial orders; establishes release and transfer dates of inmates. Calculates all jail sentences greater than one day, to include the application of gain time in order to determine projected release dates. Monitors program participation and disciplinary sanctions of sentenced inmates in order to appropriately adjust gain time and release dates. Verifies and processes all commitment to the Department of Corrections (DOC) and Department of Children and Families (DCF). Facilitates and coordinates the transfer of these inmates. Screens and assigns all inmate workers to appropriate job duties within the Department and the County, based on safety and security issues. Determines Work Release eligibility of all sentenced inmates. Responds to inmates inquiries regarding release dates, gain time, legal status and community referrals, etc.
Contact with offenders. Conducts interview sessions with specific emphasis on goal oriented and socially accepted behavior. Monitors, investigates, and/or enforces offender adherence to program requirements. Facilitates adherence to drug testing requirements. Attends and participates in court hearings.
Analyzes documentation and makes recommendation regarding sentencing.
Provides referral information (e.g. vocational, educational and social services).
Prepares written documentation, correspondence or case documentation. Assists in the development and delivery of targeted programming for offenders/inmates. Communicates with criminal justice partners.
Supervises inmates to prevent altercations, intimidation undesirable or illegal acts, intercedes when necessary, and to ensure the safety of the facility, other Correctional staff and the inmates. Maintains accurate count and current location of all inmates or Youthful Offenders assigned. Completes and maintains required records, logs and reports. Performs cell and body searches as required. Ensures safe, secure and orderly movement of inmates throughout the facility. Performs security and safety checks and adheres to facility security procedures.
Ensures, to the limit of authority possible, that inmate rights are observed-and that they are treated according to policy. Supervises inmate or Youthful Offender work crews. Acquires knowledge of all emergency plans and procedures and maintains emergency equipment.
