I write a monthly column called "Good Food Matters" for this newspaper. Written in a lively and light-hearted manner, each column describes how food intertwines with daily life and enhances our personal relationships, and ends with a recipe.
I started as a communications officer, or marketing assistant, in the marketing department of First Seneca Bank, Oil City, PA. I was primarily responsible for writing a weekly employee newsletter and press releases. As the company grew substantially over the years, through mergers and acquisitions, my career kept pace and, when the company was sold and my position eliminate, I was the corporate communications manager, responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company's multi-media communications -- from corporate advertising, to employee communications, to annual reports and executive speech writing.
In this company, I was responsible for employee communication, via paper, e-mail and intranet. This was a new challenge, as the company was headquartered in London, England, and necessitated bridging cultural gaps.
