January 2009 to January 2013
BAE Systems - City , STATE
  • Catalyst for implementing a process improvement suggestion that expanded the supplier managed inventory (SMI) program for hardware components to previously unsupported programs and manufacturing sites.
  • The expansion resulted in an immediate inventory saving of ~$800k with long-term savings projected to be within the $2-5 million dollar range.
  • Developed and orchestrated the implementation of a process improvement idea that reduce the required levels of 'work in process' (WIP) inventory, without sacrificing desired service levels across a network of three geographically dispersed organizations that resulted in a bottom line cost saving of ~$225k per month.
  • Co-led a highly successful kaizen event that led to a 200% improvement in overall process cycle time for adding and removing parts from SMI agreements, while at the same time a creating 'one-piece flow' system (versus previous 'batch push' system) that improved visibility into the functional approval queues process.
  • This change led to a 40% reduction in the number of failed part adds attempts.
  • Introduced the inclusion of yield factors (attrition) in BAE's SMI forecast, drastically reducing part shortages by accounting for each component's unique attrition rate.
  • The lack of attrition accounting in the forecasts had led to years of floor shorts, as electronic SMT reeled parts frequently lost 30-40% of components on each build.
  • Technological challenges prevented previous efforts to resolve this issue from succeeding.
  • Introduced the inclusion of yield factors (attrition) in BAE's SMI forecast drastically reduced part shortages by accounting for each components attrition rate.
  • Scope of project included the idea creation from conception through implementation and communication plan rollout to the BAE Electronic Systems division.
  • Demonstrated leadership and technical abilities during through the discovery and testing phases of a complex software application designed to support BAE's SMI program.
  • Activities included requirements gathering and analysis, documentation, design input, scoping of incremental releases, project scope and timeline management, assisting with user acceptance testing, and developing processes and workflows that supported the product.
  • Demonstrated project management and leadership skills during the implementation of each new SMI partnership agreement across all sites in Electronic Systems enterprise.
  • Implementation efforts included creating both corporate and site specific project plans and timelines, facilitating implementation meetings with BAE and supplier partners, developing corporate and site specific SOWs, integrating supplier systems across firewalls to share detailed and long-term demand forecasts, developing standardized procedures for on-boarding supplier personnel at BAE site locations, and setting up 'on-site' supplier stores to provide seamless coverage for manufacturing build schedules.
  • Created a website that served as a knowledge transfer tool and information repository for educating BAE and Supplier employees across multiple geographically dispersed locations on the strategic benefits and tactical operational details regarding the SMI program.
  • Site contents included access to supplier-specific constraint reports, historical forecasts, command media documentation, contact information for key BAE and supplier personnel, a frequently asked questions section, and one-click access to key reports and report descriptions.
Business Analyst & Project Manager

  • Completed ahead of schedule and within budget.

  • Awarded special recognition by Secretary of State for implementing a comprehensive user-acceptance testing (UAT) process that empowered front counter and service center employees (the end-users) to be active participants in the process.
  • The new UAT process leveraged kickoff meetings for the testers to be introduced to the project so they could understand why they were critical to the overall success of the project.
  • Additionally, the new process, for the first time, involved the User-Interface and Software Quality representatives from IT Worked collaboratively with various IT functions including database developers, coders/programmers, and software quality engineers in communicating technical details of the user-acceptance testing process until all test scripts and bug fixes had been verified to be working properly.
