I have had over 28 years as a Registered Nurse with experience in all areas of Intensive Care . My career started in Nashville, Tn in 1983 , after graduating from Belmont University . I started work at a major teaching hospital affiliated with Vanderbilt University and during the first 5 years there I trained and worked in all areas of Adult Critical Care which included Medical, Surgical, Neuro-surgical , and Open Heart Recovery .
After 10 years in Nashville , in 1992, I moved to California and while ICU was my proficient training , I began to reach out beyond the ICU and found that I enjoyed the fast pace and new challenge of Emergency Department Care.I realized I loved working with all age groups and it was refreshing becoming proficient in this new and challenging area. My skill set grew with a wider range of care in Triage, Pediatrics, Emergency Maternal/child, and Critical Transport.
In 1993, I moved from Southern California at UC Irvine to UC San Francisco as a Critical Care float pool nurse . I am very flexible and I would also be one of the few nurses who would go to ER, PACU and to Mt Zion with our float pool .I would also float to ICU , PACU. I became certified Conscious sedation and recovery adults and children during my time in the ER setting . The Cardiology department has been my home for he last 13 years . I am proficient in Conscious Sedation , primarily of Adults in out Transesophageal Echo testing . I also have held recently a perdiem ER job and maintained Conscious Sedation CEU and traning for that position until January 2013 in a local hospital near my home. I have been at UCSF now for 20 years . I love our hospital and I feel I have 28 years of nursing experience as an RN with excellent communication and teaching skills. Critical Care Core Coarse at The University of Tennessee in 1986. This was a 6 week(30 CEU) formal from 6 week program to prepare nurses working in Critical Care with the skills to be proficient in Hemodynamic Moniorting, Vasoactive IV medications.
In Electrophysiology (Cardiac Device ) , I am a member of Heart Rhythm Society as an allied health professional and I have over 10 years ongoing training in Cardiac Devices , Pacemaker/ Internal Cardiac Defibrillator patient follow-up and management in UCSF Device clinic . California Continuing Education requirement fulfillment at 30 to 60 units per year,emphasizing classes in Cardiology, Critical Care and Emergency room medicine. .

I moved to Mission Bay in 2010 and I continue to perform Stress ECHO as well as Electrophysiology care and follow-up of device patients with pacemakers and defibrillators . I am proficient in IV insertion , phlebotomy and I maintain BCLS and ACLS and my ongoing care and learning related to Cardiac Device at Mission Bay Cardiology .
