ADLs; Activities of Daily Living, Meal Prep, grocery shopping, assisting with doctor appointments, physical transfers, positioning properly in bed to avoid pressure soars, Passive Range of Motion, housekeeping, medication management, schedule organizing for our caregiving team, and training and following up with incoming caregivers. While at Somerset, I worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant in a special care ward. I specialized in caring for elders with dementia and others on hospice. My duties include but were not limited to the following:
ADLs, activities of daily living, passive range of motion, physical therapy assistance, companionship, nurse delegated medication management including insulin checks and injections, charting, training, excellent communication skills with all members of each personal care team, medication orders, continuing education classes onsite, and always finding ways to go above and beyond my required duties.
Towards the end of my time with Somerset I was offered a position as the Activity Director's Assistant due to my positive people skills. I enjoyed both positions but due to a family tragedy I had to make the difficult decision to resign.
In home caregiving duties include but were not limited to the following:
ADLs, activities of daily living, medication management, meal prep, grocery shopping, and providing the best care for each individual per care plan I was provided with.
With this position, I had the pleasure to reach out to a child whom was diagnosed with severe ADHD and was failing in school. This child was misunderstood and fell through the cracks of the public school system. I was able to find creative ways of teaching that the child could understand and excel with. My duties included but were not limited to the following:
Lesson Planning, teaching, continuing education, transportation to and from extra curricular classes, and companionship. This job blessed me and paved the path of understanding how to adapt my teaching skills to individuals with disabilities.
