Placing and setting up Apharesis donors on Cobe spectra machines similar to machines used for Dialysis. The machines required calculations to be incorporated in order to draw the correct amount of platelets and plasma. All of the blood draws were done using a 16 gauge needle and a variety of blood bags. A variety of tubes are drawn for different testing in the order of draw. Techs were also responsible for testing HgB levels and taking vital signs.
Techs are required to ask a variety of questions of each donor as directed by The Food and Drug administration.
