I have a very diverse set of experiences from working at an acai restaurant to working in a snack shop at Hume Christian Lake. I have learned so much team work skills in the many jobs I have worked and I loving providing service that creates a fun and easy environment for people. When I am set with a job, I am extremely focused in accomplishing that job to the best of my abilities while having fun. I have also learned how to work in high pressured environments since most of my previous jobs have delt with food and rushes of orders. I lead junior highers for about 4 years and learned so much patience and light-heartedness through that experience. The kids taught me so much in have joy but also being able to keep the rules in effect.
I have currently been employed at Bowl of Heaven for ten months. This job has helped increase my multi-tasking skills and has helped me to resolve any customer service issues. I regularly have to provide fast service to prepare custom made orders, keep everything in the stored fully stocked by preparing all the produce, and making sure everything within the store is clean. During my ten months, I have been given the responsibility to be a shift leader during certain shifts. When working as a shift lead, I am required to order new supplies for the next day, count out all the money within the register and put it in the safe, and safely lock up the store.
I worked at Hume for a short, but such a fulfilling time. I worked in the Snack Bar on the camp making milkshakes, coffee, fried foods and managing the register. I learned so much about team work and working for a purpose. I was able to further my knowledge in customer service and doing whatever I can to help customers. Covid-19 placed many restrictions on what a normal service looks like; however, with adjustment and focus, I was able to learn and make the best of what we had as a team. I was supposed to work longer there; however, the California fires shut the camp down early so no guests could come up.
During my time at Shady Canyon, I worked in the Snack bar, Pool Snack bar and Beverage Cart. I was able to serve guests, seat them and provide welcoming customer service. This job taught me a lot in making the members experience more memorable and offering fast service. During busy rushes, I would switch off manning the register, seating guests, serving food and clearing tables. I was able to learn a lot in multi-tasking and keeping the work space organized and quick.
I have worked the past two years as a Leader and mentor with junior high kids. This job involves an immense amount of responsibility from taking care of the kids for two hours to being their leader at a camp for multiple days. When dealing with junior highers, I have learned to interact with kindness and patience to help the kids stay focused on following the rules while having fun. This job has not only increased my interaction skills but also my multi-tasking skills. While caring for the junior highers, I often have to keep my eye on every corner of the room while planning or explaining certain games or events for the kids.
I have gone up to Forest Home once as a camper and 4 times as a leader for my church. I have always loved the message provided and the leadership that counselors display in helping the campers see Christ in a new way. I have always wanted to work at Forest home when I first started leading there because I know it would help me further my faith and I also want to be able to help those that come up in giving them an experience that is centered on joy and God's goodness.
I am still attending high school and I am a senior. Throughout highschool I have received awards for my community service hours and have accomplished a high GPA throughout the honors and AP program.(4.0) With these tough courses, I have learned to be persistent and to work hard in order to succeed.
I am currently attended Saddleback Community College online to complete my general education classes. I am hoping to transfer to Point Loma Nazarene University; however, with certain circumstances hindering a "normal" college education, I am delaying my transfer until classes return in person. So for now, I am trying to get ahead and do whatever I can!
