Ensured airspace is managed properly and returned after training is complete. Used gained knowledge of safety procedures, ammunition, or reported danger conditions to refuse or grant permission for units to utilize range. Initiates radio checks and maintain contact with “HOT” ranges. Logged all required information into RFMSS using FDO's desk computer. Recorded range/training areas activities on range control firing log and any other required forms. Updated as needed. Provided essential training data to Fire Desk Leader (FDL). Performed duties as a Ground Activities Controller on a rotating 8-hour shift which simultaneously integrates live fire activities, air drops and close air support operations 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Disseminated weather information, installation closures and road conditions to all units utilizing ranges, training facilities, recreation areas, and maneuver areas. Consults units on facilities restriction, fire prevention, and ammunition security measures to guarantee units are training safely. Familiar with Army Safety Regulations AR 385-63, DA PAM 385-63, AR 385-62 and FS REG 385-14.
Range Support included, but was not limited to, set-up, operate, maintain, and perform Operator Level Maintenance.
