With fourteen years of experience teaching English in both the middle and high school setting, I am a student-centered teacher who embraces a "Whatever It Takes" philosophy: Uses student-centered strategies and methods of learning, creates a balance for multiple intelligences, habits of mind, and differentiated learning opportunities, and employs a variety of creative activities to facilitate learning. With a firm grasp on the subject matter, the SOLs, and the necessary skills for a 21st Century Learner, I put forth my best efforts to make information understandable and meaningful, to create a sense of community in the classroom, and to maintain a learning environment in which questions are welcomed, critical thinking is stimulated, and a freedom of expression is explored.
