I started my career in helping other individuals in 2013. I was hired as a ICF staff member on second shift. I enjoyed caring for other individuals. While I was working on the floor as a staff member I did many duties. These duties included: assistance in personal hygiene and everyday living, active treatment, teaching new opportunities in areas of learning/improving, running goals, maintaining behaviors, and most importantly advocating for the ones served. Within a short 6 months, I was then prompted to an ICF supervisor. I had responsibilities of interview all employees for the home i supervised, hiring employees, orientation/training new employees, couselings, appraisals, scheduling, payroll, and delegating staff members. I was also on my floor next to my staff helping them one step at a time. I never wanted my staff to feel as though i wouldnt do the job they were doing. I gained a lot of respect from my employees by working side by side with them. We had a excellent survery from state when they did there annual visit with no deficiencies! Thats when i realized my passion was found. I realized this is what I want to do the rest of my life. I then had heard of New Hope Village. I applied for the weekend package position that was advertised at the time. I then was offered an interview as a Community Living Supervisior. I accepted the position and have grown from when I first started this field. I have learned many new job duties and understanding of how the agency runs. I have been greatful of eveything I have learned and achieved along the way. I want to continue in making a difference in individuals lives and continue to grow within the agency. I have found the field I would like to continue my career in!
