I love to listen to customers, what they want to say is important. I love to work with friendly people who enjoy laughing and don't take life so seriously. I like relaxed atmospheres, but like to stay focused on what I'm doing so I can help other co-workers finish their jobs also. I'm a team player who enjoys being part of a team. I also like to- when and if I can, help resolve issues that may arise at any time.
I work as a Camp Counselor for the dogs we take care of, watch them play, interact with each other and redirect them when needed in the yards. In the mornings- after we get the (boarder dogs) up to go to the bathroom and give them breakfast, we cleaned the windows, the wood work, swept and mopped the floors in the foyer and also the isles in the back where the cabins are.
I helped clean boarder cabins when the boarder's- (those who stayed overnight at our facility), would leave the next day.
In the afternoon, when the dogs would go down for supper, we'd clean the play yards and the play equipment.
I didn't really work with the computers for making reservations for the boarders or the day campers, I'm not really that good with computers.
When the families would bring their dogs in for day camp or for boarding I would greet them at the door and escort them back to a cabin. When it was 730am we would get the day campers up to go out to their respective yards to interact and socialize with each other. We get the boarders up at 8am.
We also had a day where we advertised a little about ourselves at a local bank with pictures of our dogs and co-workers.
I worked as a float. I gave people lunch breaks, and bathroom breaks.
I also helped in the baby room changing diapers, the 2-3 year old rooms at lunch, nap times and also for snack times after nap was over. I also helped fix snacks when needed.
I also- on occasion, helped out in the office filing papers, putting packets of papers together.
I went to "conferences" for the co-workers they had every year at the end of summer for the coming year.
I took ongoing classes to further my education for the jobs I was doing and helping out with there.
At the beginning of the day I'd sit with the kids and read with them, or sing songs, or play some kind of game with them before we sat down to eat breakfast, then brush our teeth.
I also did art for the different rooms I helped out in for certain seasons of the year, and also helped with planning projects for different holidays- which was Very Fun!
I went out with crews and cleaned residential areas -(homes) and businesses here in Hiawatha, Cedar Rapids and Marion.
We used some green products, but most of what we used to clean was pretty toxic- so we used discretion and sound judgement in the company materials and supplies.
I really enjoyed the time with my co-workers, we all had a blast working together.
I also got to enjoy mentoring new people on the job, it was pretty fun leading them through how to properly clean with what we had to use.
We were pretty organized when we'd go out as a team to clean, everyone had there thing they did and it really helped when we knew who was doing what and where, how long it would take for them to complete it.
If there happened to be something that wasn't cleaned properly, or had accidentally been skipped, whoever was responsible would take the initiative and re-do whatever it was that hadn't been done right the first time.
-(accomplishment) when I was taking a writing class out of California, I wrote a short story which was published in a little news paper and I won a box of stationary for my efforts.
-(activities) I also like to sing, do counted cross stitch, take walks, read books, eat out once in a while, go see movies and cook my own food.
