Installed new safety tape in ground above any new cable installation, installed fiber optic and copper cables using a series of cable pullies and high tention tape. Located existing damaged cables using a cable locater and an open fault indicater, megger or ohm meter, Used a backhoe and shovel to excavate and repair with cable cutters, strippers, and grounded metal sheath with a ground wire from one side of the cable to the other to prevent electrolisis before resplicing. Spiced in multi pair copper cables using an Amp gun or a 710 crimper. Fusion spliced multi pair fiber optic cables and tested light with an OTDR to ensure best quality of fiber and hot melts. Installed cement post for FSTEs and terminated hot melt connectors. Used many different types of other tools and equipment as well such as bucket truck, front end loaders, forklift, trencher, graders, CAT D-7, D-8, line truck, cable trailers, splicing trailers, generators, hole hog or horizontal boring tool, ground tamper, shovel, trenching shovel, OTDRs, TDRs, fiber power meters, 3M Risor bond shot test, cable stripping tool, impact tool, RJ45 crimp cutter and stripper tool, AMP gun, AMP crimper, copper repair tools. Assisted Inside Plant or electronic telecommunicationsystem installers on down time. Pre planned, designed, installed, fabricated and connected mutipair and coaxial interface cabling. Had an enormous amount of hands on training assisting in the fabrication prototype wiring harnesses for inter-cross connects. Performed operational tests on electronic switching systems to make sure it was working correctly. Mainly assisting the lead technician and learning all of the different types of electronic equipment and skills needed to get the job done correctly.
Went TDY and attended a three day course to be certified in fiber optic installation
