Talented science teacher passionate about making the high school experience a positive one for all students. Works to improve school climate so that all students can learn course materials, as well as the social skills necessary to be successful in life.
Prior to teaching at Holy Cross High School, I worked at Yale Medical School in a breast cancer and melanoma research lab. While at Yale, I had 4 publications in national science journals and one presentation at ASCO's (American Society for Clinical Oncology) annual convention.
In the past 7 years I have taught Biology, Chemistry and Environmental Science. I have taught multiple levels, including Honors, CP-A (college prep general level) and CP-B (college prep low level). I am accustomed to teaching 6 classes per semester, totally more than 120 students each semester.
Maintaining a positive classroom environment is important to me. I have used a variety of teaching methods such as lectures, discussions. labs and demonstrations to engage my students. Students must learn how to correctly interact with one another, which is why I established and enforced rules for behavior among students. Keeping accurate records has allowed me to alert administrators to any concerns about student performance and progress with enough time to correct the problem.
I worked in a breast cancer and melanoma research lab.
I will have my Masters Degree in Educational Leadership by next Fall.
