Every time I walk into Ruckersville Elementary School, I am energized. By the staff, the students, the environment. I have enjoyed being a parent volunteer, coming in and helping school staff one day per week, on average, every year for the last seven years. I would love to have the opportunity to work in that environment full time and be a positive contribution to the culture of RES. I am a hard worker, with motivation to complete tasks well and on time. I have a good rapport with the staff and many of the families at RES already, and would be sure to treat everyone with respect and equanimity.
While my past experience as a therapist does not align exactly with the skills needed for the Educational Support Staff position, these are the skills that I have used while working within a therapeutic setting, as well as in my time volunteering and being on the boards of the MOMS Club of Charlottesville (President), and RES PTA (President Elect 2019-2020, President 2020-present).
Working well with a team of professionals with varying titles
Creating and maintaining a tight schedule within a limited amount of time
Participation in, or running of, meetings both in person and virtually
The handling of sensitive material and maintaining confidentiality
Event planning and execution
While I have not been a part of the workforce in many years, I have spent much of my time doing volunteer activities and serving on boards such as the MOMS Club of Charlottesville and Ruckersville Elementary School PTA. Within the MOMS Club, I served as President where I helped plan the group's monthly calendar and presided over many monthly meetings. I also organized a community blood drive and multiple diaper drives to benefit the local community. While on the board of the RES PTA, I have participated in fund raising, event planning, participating in or leading meetings, both in person and virtually, and coordinating with school administration on the needs of the school and how best to meet them.
