Virginia Benefit Programs Organization Executive Board:
Secretary since 8/2012. The Executive Board proposes supports and evaluates legislation, policies and procedures which would preserve the integrity of programs and personnel in Benefit Programs. We prepare and present a yearly itemized budget of approximately $70,000. Examine upcoming policy to assist in providing the training needs of local workers. Promote cooperation among local, regional and state levels of the Department of Social Services, and public, private and governmental agencies.
Virginia National Guard Joint Family Programs Action Council January, 2008 – September, 2011
Council Facilitator. The Council was formed in January, 2008 due to multiple military deployments throughout VA. Members were appointed by the VA National Guard and each represented their part of the state. We worked alongside the VA National Guard and the VA National Guard Family Programs to identify the needs of our military families, offer solutions and work to meet them. We developed and recommended policy to meet the diverse needs of our military families, applied for grants to fund needed family programs not met by the National Guard, aided in the development and implementation of youth support programs, community outreach and volunteer training.

Recruit, select, train and supervise 7 workers in the Benefit Program Unit in Medicaid, Adoption Assistance Medicaid, ICAMA, SNAP, Auxiliary Grants and Fuel Assistance Programs. Work closely with Adult and Children's Service Staff. Compile and analyze reports, enter and interpret computer data. Monitor worker's skills and caseloads making changes where necessary. Including retention or retraining issues. Monitor current and proposed policy and legislative issues to plan for possible changes. Considerable knowledge of current social/economic issues; programs/resources and laws/ regulations in Scott County and Virginia. VaCMS Ambassador, Security Officer. Agency representative for: Scott County Health Advisory Committee, Head Start Liaison, Red Cross Emergency Shelter and Disaster SNAP Contact. I serve on State Benefit Program Organization Executive Board, SNAP Task Force and the Western Region Supervisor's Association Board, helping develop legislative and policy change recommendations and serving as an information liaison with localities. Hired in as Sr. Worker supervising 13 workers in the Medicaid program then later promoted to full Supervisor.
Intake and ongoing ABD Medicaid/Auxiliary Grant worker. Secondary programs included: Fuel Assistance, General Relief, State/Local Hospitalization and food commodity distribution also compiled statistical reports on those programs. Interviewed clients and applied policy/regulations to evaluate eligibility. Data input, compiled and evaluated statistical reports and fraud investigation.
Intake and ongoing fuel vendoring program. Delta County was the pilot agency in Michigan. I was instrumental in developing forms, statistical reports and procedures. Conducted and attended planning meetings with fuel providers and state agency personnel to troubleshoot and correct program delivery errors. Interview clients, budgetary calculations, determined eligibility and clerical duties. Trained 17 workers at my departure.
