I am a retired Fire Chief from Texarkana, Texas willing to relocate to another city. I have worked in public service most of my life, but was at the department for the last 36 years. I am college educated, mature and have good people skills. I work well with others and I am a total people person, I have had much experience with people of other races, cultures, religious beliefs and life preferences. I am a fun-loving type with many life experiences that help me fit in with most any peer group. I have no trouble taking instructions from others who may be less educated or different from me. I have been placed in many supervisory positions throughout my life but my basic nature is that of a worker bee. I was raised old school where the customer is always right and do what the boss says even if you may disagree with his decisions.

I started as a basic firefighter and was assigned to an ambulance for 5 years. I was transferred to a Rescue Truck for 9 years where I learned specialized fire service activities such a search and rescue, high angle rescue and extraction of trapped victims. I was promoted to the Fire Marshal's Office as a Captain where I worked as a Fire Investigator and a Fire Prevention Officer. At this time I attended the Texas Police Academy and was certified as a Peace Officer. I gave many presentations to local schools, civic organizations, etc. Next, I was promoted to Battalion Chief in charge of Training. I was sent to many training schools such as the National Fire Academy and Texas A&M University. After the 911 incident I attended bomb schools in New Mexico and many Hazardous Materials Response schools in Pueblo, Colorado, Anniston, Alabama and other cities. I have had many classes on Human Relations and working with the XYZ generation. I was appointed Head of Department and worked in that position for 3 years until my preparation for retirement.
I worked as a milk route person delivering milk to 7-11 stores in the Little Rock. It was possibly my favorite job in my lifetime, but the company went out of business and most 7-11 stores in the United States shut down.
I started out working at a grocery store stocking shelves, selling watermelons and sacking groceries. After high school I worked at a department store for several years until they closed. I lived in the Dallas area for a few years and worked for a company called Space Corporation as a parts expediter.
I started as an Education Major in hopes of teaching Math and coaching basketball, but was unable to leave my job and practice teach for a semester, so I changed my major to General Studies.
I was Fireman of the Year twice. I was on the City Council in the small satellite town of Red Lick, Texas. I was in many fire service professional organizations through the years. I was a volunteer for the American Red Cross, Race For The Cure, American Cancer Society, Animal Rescue and others. I am active in my church and do much volunteer work. I played sports all my life and have won many awards. I have tutored kids in math and English for many years and have coached many youth and adult athletic teams. I was a high school basketball official for 20 years.
