Possesses institutional knowledge of University policies, procedures, and systems including: Blackboard, Ulink, Cardmail, and library systems. Familiarity with campus layout and environment.
Dear search committee,
I've been away from UofL for two years in search of what I really want to do with my life. Upon seeing this position I was excited at the prospect of rejoining the campus culture I left behind. I believe that the University of Louisville is a great place to work, because I've practically grown up on campus. If selected for this position I would be a third generation UofL employee. My grandmother retired from UofL and my aunt has been a proud employee for 35 years.
Now who am I? I'm glad you asked. I find myself pretty witty, and I enjoy bringing a smile to peoples faces (even though given the circumstances our masks might cover it). I'm inquisitive and I love to learn, and then applying those skills to my daily life. I love understanding new perspectives, and feel a diverse environment makes me a well rounded person.
A lot has changed at UofL since I was a student, and I've grown as well. It's not often that you feel like you've grown with an institution. Higher education is usually slow to change. But under the leadership of a new administration, UofL is a place that I feel fits me and my values. Specifically, the Cardinal Principles:
Community of Care - Self-care is a hard lesson to learn. But in doing so I am able to have a greater capacity for compassion to others.
Accountability - I have always been one to admit to my own mistakes and learn from them. Failure doesn't determine who you are, it only makes you stronger moving forward.
Respect - I find that facilitating respect for all allows for open-minded exchange of ideas as well as personal growth.
Diversity and Inclusion - To me, diversity is embracing each others individuality while also learning from and celebrating our differences. Recognizing that not all people have been treated equally is the first step to insuring everyone feels like they have a place in the cardinal family.
Integrity and Transparency - Being open and honest is the only way to insure trust in each other and within the organization. They are the two supporting pillars of the cardinal principles.
Noble Purpose - Purpose is something that everyone is striving to find, and I am no exception. I feel that being an employee at UofL will help me along my journey.
Agility - The ability to adapt has always been important, but even more so given the turbulent changes in our society. I can help the community navigate whatever changes we face.
Leadership - Leadership isn't just a position, it's a value we need to cultivate within ourselves. I believe this position would allow me to hone my leadership skills.
I believe my skill sets and values align with the expectations of this position. I'm self-directed, team-oriented and will always strive to not only complete but excell with whatever tasks are assigned to me. I pride myself in my ability to create a positive and inclusive work environment. I am highly productive and efficient and I adapt to change quickly. I know I would be a great asset to the Cardinal Community and that UofL will help me grow as a professional.
Thank you for your time and consideration,
Sincerely,
Copley Allen
