I am a hard worker who enjoys learning new things and applying my strong, varied experience in Customer Service, Landscaping, and various tasks of Ground Keeping to solving problems and meeting challenges. I am a dedicated employee who wants more from his job than a paycheck. I take pride in what I do as a worker and respond to objectives in a precise manner. I enjoy serving others in a way that makes me more than a face in their daily activity. I believe that attitude in the workplace is of the utmost importance, so your smile or friendly response to one's question or issue leaves them with the confidence that you understand and are more than willing to help them. Whether the job is dealing with people or dealing with tools and machinery, I will always do my very best to get the job done and done correctly.
I am second in demand of marking off and digging of graves and setting of markers, headstones, and footstones for the company. This requires precision and attention to detail when dealing with the public and laying to rest of their loved one. I also am skilled in the setting up and removal of the tent, chairs, grass, and lowering device on which the casket rests. Customer service is also important here to me when dealing with families in their time of need. Perpetual care is also done to the cemeteries for those laid to rest, so when needed I weedeat and mow areas in need of caring and clean up debris as well.
I was responsible for getting plants, trees, shrubs, and pottery set out and organized and I also made sure the greenery was watered on a daily basis. During the day I would also have to conduct purchases and carry the products for the customers, along with making house calls for delivery of larger purchases such as larger items of pottery, trees, and greenhouse buildings/sheds. When trucks would come in with loads of products/ inventory (plants, trees, pottery), I was responsible for unloading the trucks, organizing and placing the inventory out for sale. I helped in the construction of the Garden Center's building and its components when it was originally getting started.
Lawn care and landscape design was a major part of this job, including laying sod, planting trees, building up flower beds, digging out and constructing waterfalls features, and laying flagstone patios. I dug trenches for irrigation systems by hand, via mattock and shovel, for residential and commercial landscaping. I also assembled sprinkler heads and installed them in the ground. Customer service was very important due to the close working with homeowners and their property.
I was hired as a cashier to help assist customers checkout and bag their groceries. If needed, I carried out their purchases and put them in their vehicles after locking my register. During slower periods of the day, I would close my till and stock shelves with backstock items, and I blocked shelves to make it customer friendly while also helping customers with questions and concerns about locations of items or prices. At the end of the day, I would also assist in the cleaning and closing of the store by helping stockers clean floors and make sure all customers were taken care of at the end of the day.
