A native of Detroit, Jessica was a performing arts student at the internationally acclaimed Cass Technical High School (alma mater of Diana Ross, Lily Tomlin, David Alan Grier, Kenya Moore, etc.) She began doing voice over work in high school for local radio stations and commercials for the IRS. She is a political scientist trained at the University of Michigan and Institut de Touraine in Tours, France. She is Managing Partner of Hazel & Associates, a public relations strategy firm providing corporations, nonprofits, federal and municipal agencies with technical assistance crafting media campaigns, public policy and regulatory initiatives. She has served as the Regional Field Director for Washington, DC for the Obama for America/President Obama re-election campaign 2012. Commencing her political career as an Intern for the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, Inc. (CBCF) in 1982 serving in the office of Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm (NY), she has served as a Legislative Correspondent for U.S. Senator Donald W. Riegle, Jr. (D-MI retired) and Legislative Director for Congressman John Conyers, Jr. (D-MI).
Jessica has also served as a Lobbyist for Building Owners & Managers, Intl. representing the regulatory interests of 16,500 commercial building owners in the USA, Japan, and the United Kingdom. She has also served as a lobbyist for the Association of America's Public Television Stations representing the legislative and regulatory interests of the nation's 350 PBS/Public TV stations.
Elected during Presidential General Election November 2012 to serve as Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner (ANC 7D05) representing 14,000 residents as first level of government in the District of Columbia.
