I have babysat for these ladies for years now. Brittany now has a 6 year old, a 4 year old, and a 2 year old. Amanda has a 6 year old and a 4 year old. Both sets of kids I babysat I would play outside, read them books, feed them meals, Colin has a food restriction involving milk so I would have to give certain milk to drink before bed time. I would go through a whole bed time routine and get them ready for bed including baths/showers, brushing teeth, getting pajamas on, and reading books before bed. I had to transport them to sporting events like gymnastics. One parent was very strict on screen time so I had to implement that rule throughout the day or night that I was there.
Umping HYBSL through the Korte Recreation Center and having to maintain a fun but safe environment. Confrontation was a big role in this job because of the coaches and parents. The job was umping 2-3 games a night throughout the summer aging from kindergarten to sixth grade.
Being a Summer Playground Leader came with a lot of responsibility including having your own little group age ranging from kindergarten to sixth grade. With your group each week, you had a different activity every day with your kids. I was responsible with coming up with different activity and projects each day, but the last week of camp I had to come up with a fun day for the whole entire camp.
Refereeing basketball at the Weinheimer for kindergarten-sixth grade each week throughout the basketball season. I typically was the lead ref for most games and earned an official shirt. Teaching kids was one of the most important parts with the younger age, instead of calling the immediate call you would teach them and tell them what they did wrong and continue play. Sometimes I would call the call and stop the game to explain. Older kids I would not have to relay the information that they did, but have to deal with backlash if they did not like the call. Scorekeeping and running the clock was another part of the referee job.
