I am currently an Associate Director of Research for the New Jersey Education Association, specializing in the area of pensions and health benefits. After ten years of outstanding evaluations, I am looking to lead the Division in which I work.
I provide advice and assistance to local associations and field representatives in order to facilitate negotiations of health insurance and other employee benefits and analyze proposals for changes in benefits developed by sources outside of NJEA. In addition, I provide counseling and assistance to individual members concerning pension and benefit problems. I am also responsible for reviewing proposed legislation with respect to health benefits and retirement.
I planned and taught basic math, pre-algebra, algebra and geometry. In addition, I was responsible for coordinating the Math GEPA review, and was a member of the Building Committee, Report Card Committee, the Frameworks Committee, Core Content Standards Committee, and Scheduling Committee. In November of 1997, I attended a week long training session at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston and learned to use NASA resources to enhance curriculum. During this time, I coordinated the afterschool homework club, coordinated and supervised the Student Council, organized dances, hot food days, school spirit weeks, money-raising events, and teacher appreciation week activities. As a member of the Mendham Township Education Association, I held many positions including: President, Vice-President, and Chief Negotiator.
I planned and taught algebra I and II, geometry and BASIC computer skills and applications. I was the faculty advisor to the Student Council.
I taught a range of courses from remedial, pre-algebra, geometry, algebra I and II and SAT math to sixth through twelfth grades. I was also a member of the Drug and Alcohol Suppression Team and Aim High Program for at-risk students.
I worked with defined benefit plans, defined contribution plans, completed benefit calculations, reviewed plan documents, produced employee benefit statements and filed annual government reports. I analyzed monthly and yearly investment statements to measure investment performance, updated payroll and eligibility status for the firm's employees and learned to handle multiple tasks and work well under deadline pressure.
I worked with defined benefit plans, defined contribution plans, profit sharing plans, completed benefit calculations, reviewed plan documents, and produced employee benefit statements. I prepared annual reports for small and large firms, which provided a comprehensive outlook of the pension fund. I fine-tuned my interpersonal skills, and learned to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently.
