As a Business Partner, advise, coach, propose solutions to supervisors to effectively manage risk (probationary monitoring, employee and labor relations, performance management, progressive discipline and terminations, benefits, exit interviews, etc.). Draft and/or review communications from management to employees; advise/aid in the delivery of those communications. Serve as resource in employee relations to ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements and academic/staff policies/procedures. Advise employees of their rights and supervisors on policies/procedures related to potential progressive discipline and overall performance management. Investigate personnel issues that could lead to corrective action, providing written update reports to HR Manager for leadership decision-making. Act as liaison with campus HR authorities. Identify, recommend, and implement formal and informal mechanisms for establishing a workplace climate of open, respectful and effective communication.
HR RISK MANAGEMENT
Identify, evaluate, addresses risk issues. Advise supervisors on preparing position descriptions, recruitment processes/hiring procedures. Provide analysis and recommendations for salaries relative to hiring, reclassifications, stipends, and equity adjustments. Mandatory reviewer for payroll/personnel transactions. Complete equity/reclassification actions. Conduct and analyze career staff exit interviews, identify trends and recommend changes to mitigate risk. Oversee, coordinate and document employee leaves of absences. Assess and monitor reasonable accommodations for compliance with laws and policy. Oversee Worker's Compensation program and advise supervisors on industrial and non-industrial case issues.
ACADEMIC PERSONNEL ADMINISTRATION
Oversee the day-to-day activities of academic personnel administration, including merits/promotions, new appointments and extensions. Analyze/interpret departmental, campus, and university academic personnel policies for Research Unit Leaders, directors, faculty, federation level appointees. Oversee academic actions involving recruitment, appointments, advancement, retention, effort reporting and change in status, and renewal of MOUs to ensure accurate and timely completion of actions. Monitor deadlines and progress of individual actions throughout the academic review process. Oversee academic recruitment processes for compliance. Review and evaluate academic federation position descriptions to ensure positions are in the appropriate title/series.
