Achieved National Board Certification, 2010. Recognized as Teacher of the Year by the Lee's Summit Elks Lodge, 2005. Developed an Adaptive Arts class for Life Skills students, 2013. Led the charge to implement first Student Assistance Program when Summit Lakes MS opened (2000) and remained chairperson until 2008. PEAK grant recipient 4 years in a row.
Summit Lakes Middle School (2000-present) lead teacher and teach Art I, II, and III, Adaptive Art and Homeroom/Advisory. Establish positive relationships with students, parents, colleagues and administrators. Use a variety of teaching methods and materials for a unique and comprehensive experience (pencil, colored pencil, paint, oil pastels, clay, computers, writing, and class discussions). Create dynamic lessons following each course curriculum, assess and monitor student progress for mastery of objectives, use Standards Based Grading practices. Member of the Literacy Team, Site-Based Team, Learning Team, Curriculum Writing Team, and Lee' s Summit Education Foundation Ambassador.

Additional experience in the Lee's Summit School District include Campbell Middle School (1995-1997), Mason Elementary (1997-1998) and Lee's Summit High School split with Pleasant Lea Middle School (1998-2000). Coaching positions include Cross Country and Cheerleading.
Facilitate 7 to 9 year old children who are dealing with the loss of a loved one. This includes, art therapy, leading group discussions, and processing grief. This is a volunteer position.
Taught a Chinese art course and developed curriculum.
Taught 6th Grade Art, Art I 7th Grade, Art II 8th Grade, and Advanced Art.
Taught drawing at Cordill-Mason Elementary.
Completed my +45 hours in Education courses focusing on technology integration and 21st Century skills.
