I have completed a 4-year education in the Local 58 I.B.E.W. apprenticeship training school in Detroit, Mi between 1986-1990. I was escalated to a journeyman inside wireman in 1990 working as a Local 58 journeyman and working in every aspect of the electrical field ranging between residential, commercial, and industrial wiring. I spent the majority of my time as a foreman running crews from 5-25 electricians. The size of the projects I was running ranged between small T.I., multi story offices, medium to large commercial, and large industrial auto plants. I was then brought into the office atmosphere where I learned the estimating, and billing aspect of our industry. I spent roughly 5-years performing as an estimator/project manager for a union company by the name of Prime Time Electric. In 2000 I moved to Huntington Beach, CA where I worked for a union company by the name of Briggs Electric for roughly a year and a half while I was getting my masters licensing in California. In 2001 I broke off and started my own company in which I have ran up to present date, working in the residential service industry and medium to large commercial work. My company also had a Solar division, and a energy management division which performed building energy audits and lighting retrofit applications for our commercial and industrial customers.
Design build large portion of Hoag Hospital, Newport Beach California nursing tower co-gen system.
Assisted in project management of the Grand Hyatt Resort in Indian Wells, California.
Project managed Seal Beach Naval Weapons station multiple site boiler re-fabrication, completed project 2-months ahead of schedule.
Performed 4-year apprenticeship course, during that time working as an electrical apprentice in 3-area's of our industry. Residential, commercial, and industrial wiring.
During this period, I worked with approx. 3-4 companies in different aspects of our trade. Most time was spent with Prime Time Electric running multiple work as a foreman. Jobs ranged from Best Buy stores, Home Depot ground up projects, AT&T switching stations, work in the automobile factories and injection mold plants.
During this period I came into the office to learn our estimating program called Estimation by Trade Services. I performed electrical estimating and was taught how to complete design build projects from an elder estimator on staff. I quickly rose to estimator/ project manager where I performed billing, change orders, safety coordination, scheduling, and basically taking the project from cradle to grave.
During this period I moved to California and started immediately in an estimator position with Briggs Electric, a union contractor in Irvine, CA. Briggs was using the same estimation program as I used in Detroit, so my transition was a smooth one. I estimated medium to large commercial projects while with this company.
In 2001 I completed my masters licensing and started my own company, eventually building up a residential service division, solar division, and a energy management division. I had 6-service vehicles on the road with 24-hour service, performed mostly T.I work and new commercial construction. Some light industrial. Just recently before my desicion to move to Colorado I was becoming proficient with Accubid software for electrical estimating.
