Unneeded disclosure

Transitioning into public school for the first time EVER half way through the year as a sophomore was a bit of a culture shock to me and it took some getting used to. Things other kids had been doing since they were five years old I was experiencing for the first time as a teenager and I really struggled at first. For example my first day I could not find my english class so when I walked in ten minuets late the teacher asked for my tardy slip and to not come back with out an excuse. Apparently my excuse of being new and getting lost did not qualify. I had no idea how to go about getting an excused tardy slip so I did not go back to his class for the rest of the week. I was accustomed to being the oldest child and being looked up to and felt very vulnerable, this being the first time in my life not knowing it all. I struggled tremendously to even pass a class for the first year and half. I was already living on my own senior year when I found out I was considered a Junior still when I found my yearbook picture not with the other seniors. Dropping out and giving up crossed my mind but my competitive personality would not be subdued. I pushed myself and I came in early and stayed late to receive all my credits needed to graduate on time. I also noticed I was only being credited for the online classes and none of the bookwork classes I did as a homeschooler and had my transcript adjusted to do so just weeks before graduation day when my counselor and I had thought there was no way I could make up in such little time. Once I got the hang of it I really did love school and still have some resentment I did not get to experience any extra curricular activities, sports, dances, and many other "normal" youth indulgence. The odds were against me from the (very late) start but I overcame all the obstacles and graduated with little to no previous education, and I did it with out any support but my own and that is one of the biggest accomplishments to this day I credit myself for.
