I am searching for a Pilot / Mechanic position with a humanitarian Christian Organization. Skilled in Bush flying environments, 4 years flying for MAF in Africa, and 2 years in Alaska. I retired as a Captain from Continental Airlines after 17 years and then worked for the training department for another 4 years training 500 new hire pilots. I would also consider a position as a delivery and demonstration pilot. I have experience in the business aircraft industry and have an Airframe and Powerplant Mechanics license and am familiar with aircraft construction and systems. I worked on the all composite LearFan project building the prototype aircraft structures for the FAA certification testing program, and I had the chance to design and build some tooling jigs for aircraft aileron assembly and solid hydraulic lines. The Lear hangars were at Reno/ Stead Airport. just north of Reno. I have also extensively redesigned and modified one of my airplanes using a one time STC and then restored my 1946 Cessna-195 to aircraft show standards. While working with MAF in Africa we had to fly and maintain our own aircraft, we did our Annuals, 100 hr inspections, AD's , aircraft repair and modifications so an A&P mechanics license was a must. We also did our own maintenance while flying in Alaska, and our own return to service flights in Africa and Alaska. We also had to be very good at troubleshooting and fixing our own aircraft problems.

I do aircraft inspections, alterations, modifications and test flights.
I moved passengers and cargo safely throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico. I was in charge of a multi-million dollar airplane and the crew for three to four day trips. In June of 2016 I received the Wright Brothers "Master Pilot" award from the FAA for over fifty years of accident and incident free flying. I also helped to train five hundred new hire pilots for their positions with Continental Airlines.
We flew passengers and skiers to many towns and ski areas in the Rocky Mountains. As pilots we became very proficient at mountain weather forecasting and STOL (short take-off and landing) aircraft using the de Havilland twin engine DHC-6 and four engine DHC-7.
Aviation missionary organization that moves people, cargo and doctors into remote areas of Southern Africa and all over the world. I was based and worked out of the small mountain kingdom of Lesotho. We moved people, cargo and doctors around the mountainous area because of lack of roads or any other transportation. I also flew and became a Captain for Lesotho Airways flying the de Havilland DHC-6 Twin Otter which also flew into South Africa, Swaziland, Botswana and Mozambique. When I was not flying for Lesotho Airways I flew the Cessna 206 aircraft for MAF. There was a war going on in Mozambique and Bob Lenhart with MAF wanted to start a relief organization to help with food flights into the refugee camps in Mozambique. I was the only person who had flown into Mozambique from MAF, so Bob and I started another organization called Air Serve International. The Red Cross had the food and we had the Twin Otter so we worked together to stop the starvation. MAF purchased a Twin Otter in California and refurbished it to use in Lesotho and Mozambique, so I was the PIC with two other MAF pilots and we flew the airplane from Redlands CA to Lesotho in South Africa, it took 13 days.
I became a firefighter/ EMT with the city of Fremont in the San Francisco Bay Area after graduating from college. I was a Paramedic in the military and I think that helped get the job with Fremont. I helped to design a fire station and design a command vehicle for the fire department along with run cards for the City of Fremont, we had eight fire stations in the city. At this time in my life I became a Born Again Christian the Thursday before Easter 1978. While a firefighter I also bought modifyed, refurbished and flew my own airplane.
I attended advanced medical training Ft. Sam Houston, TX
I then went to Ft Benning for Paratroop and Ranger training 6/1963
Then to Okinawa with the 173rd airborne and a Mash Unit
Finally ended in Ft Stewart as a Emergency Room tech.
Honorable Discharge May 1965.
