I am a skilled psychiatric nurse having worked for over 20 years at Primary Children's Hospital in pediatric behavior health day treatment and residential programs. I worked in behavioral health as a psychiatric technician for seven years while completing my nursing degree. After graduation, I worked three years at LDS Hospital on a adult surgical floor. I missed behavioral health and transitioned back to my previous unit at Primary Children's Hospital. I worked for a year as a staff psychiatric nurse and then stepped into a leadership role as a nurse manager. During my time in leadership I was able to complete my BSN degree. A year ago I made the decision to change jobs and am currently work for a company called DMBA. I work in the Missionary Medical Department working with current Mormon missionaries struggling with mental health issues.
Currently work with the Missionary Medical program that supports current Mormon missionaries serving in the mission field for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Job duties includes triaging phone calls that address current mental health issues of missionaries. Work with team members to determine level of care for missionaries in crisis.
Cared for patients in a residential/day treatment programs with depressive diagnosis, substance abuse/addiction disorders, mood disorders, psychotic disorders, attention disorders, spectrum disorders, hyperactivity disorders and behavioral disorders. Also providing care with patients with medical issues that included diabetes, seizures, eating disorders and head injuries.
Worked as a nurse manager. overseeing 14 nurses between two units. I was responsible for overseeing the day to day operations with the nursing units, including managerial and administrative duties.
Job duties included caring for latency age children 5-15 years of age in a residential setting who suffered from severe behavioral and emotional issues. Provided round the clock care including structuring the patient's environment, planned activities, helped with ADL's.
